Tina Braimah CNM, CPM
FOUNDER/INSTRUCTOR
Tina Braimah (she/her) is the owner and Executive Director of Aya Birth and Community Wellness, based in Durham, NC. She was the first Black Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) attending home births in North Carolina and has the distinction of being the only midwife in NC holding both the CNM and CPM credentials. Tina has over 20 years of experience supporting women in a variety of settings. She received her Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Nurse Midwifery from East Carolina University in 2015. Tina is a true advocate and life-long student of the midwifery model of care and has been precepting NARM students since 2017. She founded Legacy Birth Academy to serve as a safe space for BIPOC birth workers to train as birth assistants and midwives as part of a larger effort to improve maternal health outcomes and diversify the future midwifery workforce. Tina is also a trained herbalist and specializes in herbs for the reproductive system.

Kalina Acevedo-Allston, MSN, CNM
INSTRUCTOR
Kalina is a Certified Nurse Midwife who earned her MSN from Frontier Nursing University in January 2024. With over 26 years of combined experience as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and then a registered nurse (RN), Kalina brings a wealth of clinical knowledge and passion to maternal health. Her work as a travel labor and delivery nurse throughout the United States has broadened her understanding of the diverse needs of birthing individuals across different healthcare systems. She also serves a a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), providing trauma-informed care to survivors.
Kalina is dedicated to addressing healthcare disparities, particularly for women of color. Through education and mentorship, she hopes to inspire birth workers who will champion reproductive justice, equity and safe, compassionate care for all birthing people.

Tiffany Delk, CPM
INSTRUCTOR
Tiffany Delk, CPM, LM, CNHP is a dedicated wife and mother of three, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in History and a concentration in African American Studies. With over two decades of experience, she is a licensed cosmetology instructor and cosmetologist, as well as a Licensed Secondary Educator in History and Social Sciences. Her extensive certifications include Certified Professional Midwife, Licensed Midwife, Certified Natural Health Professional, Certified Holistic Nutritionist, DONA-trained Doula, Certified Basic Life Support Instructor with the American Heart Association, and Certified Lamaze Childbirth Educator. This diverse expertise reflects her commitment to education, health, and holistic well-being. Her passion lies in empowering women through holistic care and addressing disparities in Black maternal health.

Nichole Wardlaw
INSTRUCTOR
Nichole’s professional career in midwifery has spanned nearly two decades and includes health education consultancy, full-scope midwifery services in private, public and military facilities, and clinical faculty advisory.
Nichole earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina, completing her studies in 2005 and received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Old Dominion University in 2022. Seeing herself as a partner in her patients’ health care, Nichole is passionate about working with women, individuals, and families to ensure safe and informed care. Her passion for her community inspired her to open a home birth practice, Jamii Birth and Wellness Services, to be able to serve her community and work towards creating spaces for clients that want out of hospital birth. She is also a certified instructor of the AAP Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
