The Application Process

Welcome to the Birth Assistant Retreat Application! This form is designed for those interested in attending our 4-Day Birth Assistant Retreat in beautiful Wake Forest, North Carolina. This empowering opportunity is exclusively for BIPOC individuals (Black/African-American, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiian).

The Legacy Birth Assistant Training Retreat is an intimate, intensive, and immersive experience designed for those who are already engaged in birthwork and activism within their communities. This retreat is not for beginners—we seek participants with a foundational background in birthwork who are ready to dive in, refine their skills, and get to work.

Because of the limited spaces, we require an application process to ensure that participants are well-prepared for the rigorous and hands-on nature of this training. This retreat is designed to equip birth assistants with both the knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently support birthing individuals during labor and delivery.

By fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment, we aim to empower future birth assistants to serve their communities with cultural competency and confidence.

If you are committed to advancing your skills and deepening your impact in birthwork, we invite you to apply.

Requirements to Apply:

  1. BIPOC Identity: This course is designed for individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color.

  2. Travel Preparedness: Applicants must be financially able to travel to North Carolina.  Food and lodging are included in the fee, but travel is the responsibility of the participant.

Application Process:

  1. Submit the application. Applications accepted on rolling basis until all spaces have been filled.

  2. The application will be reviewed by our team.

  3. Upon acceptance into the program, candidates will have one week to pay the $300 non-refundable deposit.

  4. Pay the remainder of the fee by March 23rd.

  5. Access to the online coursework will be sent, which should be completed prior to the training.

  6. Attend the optional virtual Q&A on March 30th.

If you’re passionate about maternal health, community advocacy, and becoming a birth assistant, we encourage you to apply. Spaces are limited, so submit your application form today to take the next step on this transformative journey.
